Many of our supporters see this as a way of helping the Jewish community once they have provided for their own immediate family. If you would like more information about how you can include a gift to Leeds Jewish Welfare Board when you make or update your Will, please call us on 0113 268 4211. Alternatively, you may prefer to email legacies@ljwb.co.uk or write to the Legacy Department, Leeds Jewish Welfare Board, Leeds, LS17 6AZ. Your enquiry will be treated with complete confidence.
You may think that a Will is unnecessary, but a legal Will is essential to guarantee that your wishes are fulfilled after your death, particularly with regard to your dependants and family, as well as other beneficiaries. Remember, too, that a gift to charity is tax-free and may consequently reduce the overall tax burden on your estate. It is always advisable to obtain legal advice whether making or changing your Will.
For the past decade, the Board has touched the lives of many thousands of Jews of all generations, Demographic changes, for example an ageing population and the fact that people are living longer, mean that in the future even more of us will look to the Welfare Board for practical support and expert advice in times of distress.
In order to continue its work we have to ask the Jewish community for financial support in order to sustain its high levels of care provision across its wide variety of resources. With the ever-increasing costs of providing these services, together with the decline in statutory funding from the Government, the community's support is increasingly vital in enabling us to provide our community with a service as and when they need us.
Leaving a legacy to Leeds Jewish Welfare Board ensures that we can continue to provide quality services to elderly people, blind and visually impaired people, people with mental health problems, people who suffer from Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, Holocaust survivors and people with physical disabilities.
A gift in your Will that, whether large or small, is deeply appreciated and helps immensely to improve the quality of life for so many frail and vulnerable members of our community.
There are three ways in which you can leave a gift to Leeds Jewish Welfare Board:
A Residuary legacy is the gift of the residue or balance of the value of your estate or a percentage of the residue or balance of the value of your estate, once your debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and other legacies have been paid. Generally, this kind of gift is of the greatest benefit to us as its value increases in line with the value of your estate.
This is a specified sum of money, decided when the will or codicil is written.
When a particular item of value is left for the Board, this is a specific legacy. This includes stocks and shares, proceeds of a life assurance policy, property, furniture or jewellery.
The easiest way to donate is online: simply click on Justgiving to make your secure donation by credit or debit card.
