Leeds Jewish Blind Society works hard on behalf of sight impaired people within our community. We offer social care support and advice for people who are struggling with visual problems together with access to helpful equipment.
The Jewish Blind Society organises monthly socials providing an afternoon tea and varied entertainment, outings to the theatre and Harrogate Synagogue where members have lunch and entertainment is provided.
The Jewish Telegraph (LISTEN) is read on to tape by a group of hard working volunteers and is distributed to about 50 sight impaired listeners and we also have a small library of talking books for people to enjoy.
We offer support and advice and are able to access equipment for people who struggle with their hearing loss. Many of our clients have both hearing and visual impairments.
We also have regular contact with Centenary House, which is The Centre for Deaf and Blind people in Leeds, where we can access a great deal of useful equipment (loop systems etc) for clients
If you feel we can benefit you, or anyone you know within the community at large, please don't hesitate to contact Avril Gaunt on 268 4211 and she will be delighted to help.
