Community Services: If you are an older person living in the community and find that you are no longer able to cope with your normal activities of daily living or feel that you may need some support, Leeds Jewish Care Services Community Team is the first point of contact for information and access to services. The experienced and professional team will provide a speedy response to any enquiry received. Information on local authority provision, e.g. admittance to residential/nursing care, day care or home care can also be given. Arrangements can also be made for the provision of frozen meals-on-wheels which are delivered on a weekly basis with a choice of menu.
The team is based at the Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Community Centre.
Requests for help can by made by any individual and informal advice can also be given over the telephone.
If appropriate, arrangements can be made for a home visit to assess an individual’s needs and requirements. All advice given is strictly confidential. Our dedicated staff team aim to improve the lives of people living in the community and help them to remain living independently for as long as possible. For further information, please contact any member of the older people’s services team – telephone 0113 2684211.
Our day activities for older people and those with disabilities take place at “The Hub” which is an integral part of the Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Community Centre. Everyone who participates in an activity must be a member of the Centre. Membership cards are issued and a short form is completed with information required should there be an emergency. All information given is in strict confidence.
A key worker system is in operation, whereby a member of staff is allocated to each person and will be available to provide support and assistance if required.
Transport may be available to those people who would otherwise not be able to access the activities. This is limited and only available at the discretion of a member of staff. There is a small charge for this service.
